A six week hiatus midseason. On a plot-dependent show. Would someone explain to ABC that this is the year 2005 and viewers have no patience?
The only thing to do is to sit around and trade notes. Here are mine.
Ana Lucia
I can't stand the character, am not too thrilled with the actress, and if she adds anything to the show, it's not what I want to see. Just before the hiatus, Jack had a scene in which he not only forgives her but acts as if she's done nothing wrong that would even need forgiving for. Even with this hit-you-over-the-head foreshadowing, there's a vicious rumor that pairs her with Sayid. Shoot me now.
The Hanso Foundation
ABC has a Hanso Foundation website as part of its viral marketing campaign. I assume that those sites have no real clues in them but perhaps someone else will discover something different. I note that all of the Hanso Foundation "projects" deal with "extra"-ordinary things like long life (Locke being healed?) and mathematical forecasting (4 8 15 16 23 42?).
The Others "came for the boy," Walt, who has exhibited psychic abilities.
I have no clue how it all fits together.
The Filmstrip
Maybe I am dense but I can't believe that missing section of filmstrip added anything factually. "Don't try to use the computer for anything else." No one thought to use it for anything else before that? It took Michael's return before someone tried something?
On the other hand, we have the whole Biblical analogy as told by Mr. Eko. So the instruction appears to be similar to the Garden of Eden's warning not to eat of that one single tree. The whole island does have that Garden of Eden quality.
