Lost Boys of Sudan

The documentary on two teens who come to the US airs on most PBS stations Tuesday night (check local listings).

Most people know something about what is happening in Sudan, but it can seem like a series of abstract images. The Lost Boys of Sudan allows us to get to know Santino and Peter who became refugees because of the fighting.

They travelled to the US in the fall of 2001 and the film chronicles that journey. The transition isn't easy (partly because they didn't get the support they expected).

Filmmakers Megan Mylan and Jon Shenk
interviewed on the site (Shenk also made the documentary on the Star Wars episode I DVD). There is also an update on what has happened since the film was finished.

Passion of the Present is a blog working to top the genocide in Sudan (and it also features downloadable songs for Sudan and a link to a video on Darfur). Ethan Zuckerman started Blog Africa.
