Sony has launched LocationFree TV in Europe, allowing viewers there to watch their favorite shows from anywhere in the world as long as they have the service, a computer or a PlayStation Portable.
Kind of like a juiced up DVR, the service allows subscribers not only to watch TV anywhere, but they can record and play it back, too. For the service to work, users must have a "Base Station" box connected to a broadband Internet connection.
The base costs roughly 350 pounds. The system has connection points for two AV sources and can be plugged into a home network or make a connection with a PSP, notebook or PC.
The service puts an interesting spin on downloadable TV programming, offering a completely new range of possibilities for viewers in Europe to see their favorite shows when and where they want.
