Les Trippeletes De Belleville

This feature shows where Disney is going wrong with animation. It works from telling a story via visuals. It has no dialogue, it has no marketing plan for children.

It is wonderful and grotesque. The story is of a boy, Champion who lives with his grandmother and his dog Bruno, and grows to be a competitive bicycle racer, who, when he is kidnapped, his grandmother gets him back.

That the statue of liberty is a fat woman holding a hamburger is coincidental.

The movie is a tribute to Jacques Tati and has some elements from "Delicatessen" and "Diva". The soundtrack is an homage to hot jazz. This is a wonderful movie with great animation, a brilliant soundtrack, and essential storytelling.
