Last Booknotes on C-SPAN

The last Booknotes on C-SPAN will be on Sunday night.

The final guest is Mark Edmundson, author of Why Read?

He wrote a 1997 Harper's essay, On the Uses of a Liberal Education As Lite Entertainment For Bored College Students.

The video and a transcript will be posted online.

The Booknotes site has transcripts for all of the more than 800 shows and has video going back to sometime in 1991.

Brian Lamb who has read a book a week for the show for the last 15 years was ABC's person of the week. The end of the series was covered in the New York Times. USA Today reports: "Lamb will host a new Sunday night interview show, Q & A, which will not be limited to authors. C-SPAN2, as part of its weekend BookTV programs, plans to start a weekly show in January, After Words, with guest hosts interviewing writers."
