The biggest and best surprise with the Coen brothers remake of "The Ladykillers" isn't the movie itself, it is one of the DVD bonus features. The instruments were made by Danny Ferrington, who is responsible for one of the best and most distinctive guitar books ever published. And he made the instruments seen in this movie, instruments never played. How cool is that?
His book, "Ferrington Guitars" is one of the best unions between books and music published. The featurette on Danny Ferrington is worth the whole price of this DVD.
Okay, the full on gospel soundtrack is pretty good, too, praise jeebus.

Thanks for the tip, I love DVD extras that deal with the music, "Standing in the Shadow of Motown" is another great one.

The Ferrington book IS great. I'll have to check out this movie. I bought the book yesterday at Barnes and Noble, who reissued it, CD and all.
