Kids' Choice Awards Host Named

Last year, Jack Black hosted the Kids' Choice Awards. Like everything else Jack Black does, the performance was very memorable. So, who has been slated for this year's awards show? Nickelodeon has signed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, famous for his wresting and his recent acting performance in Get Smart and his touching and cute performance in The Game Plan. His next feature is in March as a cabdriver taken for a ride by two paranormal teens in Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain. Later this year, he'll be a dentist in 20th Century Fox’s comedy The Tooth Fairy. Also out this year, he is a voice of astronaut stranded on Planet 51 in New Line Cinema's first 3-D CG-animated feature.

Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming at Nickelodeon, and an executive producer for the awards show, spoke kindly about the famous actor. “Dwayne is a pop culture icon and a Kids’ Choice veteran who has been a presenter and a nominee for Favorite Male Movie Star. Our audience loves him.”

Oh, and there will be slime. And clearly “The Rock” is excited: “Every spring I look forward to three things: the Easter Bunny, bass fishing with my bare hands, and the brilliance of fluorescent green slime flying through the air at someone's face. That's why it's so cool for me to be hosting this year's Nickelodeon’s Kid's Choice Awards! What's great about this event is that it honors kids by honoring their opinion. The best way to do that is by me leading millions of kids into total chaos, crazy fun, and endless buckets of slime!"

Dwayne is also a nominee. Last year's winners included Miley Cyrus (Favorite TV actress/Female Singer), Drake Bell (Favorite TV actor), the Jonas Brothers (Favorite Music Group), and Madden '08 (Favorite Video Game)..

Don't miss out — this special telecast will be broadcast in more than 228 million households across the US, UK, Europe, Russia, Israel, Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Brazil. Other Kids' Choice Awards air annually in the U.K., Germany, Sweden, Holland, Italy, Brazil, Australia, and China.

The 22nd Annual Kids' Choice Awards will take place Saturday, March 28, at 8-9:30 PM ET/PT time. Filmed at UCLA, kids pick their favorite movies, music, sports, and television.
