You got the "get" that will make big ratings bucks for "Dateline" on Friday and will boost the Today Show's unstable ratings on Monday! You got the "get" that will get you viewers you couldn't have gotten if you remained glued to that goody-goody unwritten code of journalistic ethics and refused to do an interview seemingly designed to get ratings and financially reward via media hype a disgraced person who is no longer in what is clearly not your profession anymore.
You got as your interview "get" Jayson Blair, the resigned New York Times reporter who admitted to fabricating stories and sources and betrayed his employers (and his readers). Jayson Blair, who will become a millionaire with his new about-to-be-rolled out book and — we predict it will happen ! — BIG movie or TV deal. And just watch he'll be a talking head on TV when it's over. Maybe on NBC! Why, just think of the "gets" that Blair can get that you haven't gotten!!
So you got the "get" so now your competitors can't "get" the guy who's now media gold and so what if narrow minded journalism school types or poor bloggers don't get it?
Listen, isn't that what it's really about on TV news these days? Success is judged not by content, balance or thoroughness but by who you get that someone else couldn't get — and then their bosses will give it to THEM because you got him first. Forget about if it rewards a disgraced person who ruined several trusting peoples' careers and gives Blair money-creating exposure to spur more book sales.
And, hey, Katie, I am NOT dumping on you! I MEAN it when I say I am (NO JOKE) one of your biggest fans and can recall your very first appearance on the Today Show. I liked and trusted you immediately and even bought your wonderful book. You are why I watch that show. I was a journalist once myself. I freelanced for a slew of papers, did reports for NPR on Spain's post-Franco elections from Madrid and worked on two newspapers. I know about the bond between readers and journalists.
And I'll tell anyone that you showed YOU REALLY CARE when you defended giving a prime time spotlight to someone whose journalistic lying led to the resignations of two Times top editors by telling the Associated Press reporter: "I can understand that this is a highly emotional issue, particularly for people at The New York Times. I can understand why they would be upset about that. On the other hand, our job is about talking to scoundrels and saints. If we based all of our interviews on people who are doing good in this world, sadly we'd be sorely limited..."

To all of you that are intimidated by Katie it is easy to understand why. She is the first woman to hold host of evening news, why because she gives one hell of an interview. Her legs are great except she would be just as good if they were huge legs.
I was in New Orleans after Katrina to volunteer. one reason because journalist like Ms. Katie Couric had the guts to go to New Orleans to show us how bad it really was.

Ive been written to by several members who state that Katie Couric is not in SUPPORT of ILLEGAL immigrants reguardless if they cost Americans 50-70 Billion dollars a year in lost tax dollars, bankrupting hospitals, filling up our jails, hurting our AMERICAN citizens.
