David Beckham left the Teen Choice Awards with a souvenir — a surfboard, the trophy he won for Choice Male Athlete. The British soccer star lit up the room when he brought his three young boys with him to the stage. Although he added later in the press room, “Yeah, I would like a little girl. Victoria’s always wanted a big family. Why not?” The littlest one clung to his leg, as he accepted the award from Josh Halloway and Kristen Bell. One of his adorable boys ended up break dancing on the stage. He smiled, “I didn’t teach him how to dance.” He later added that the boy went on tour with the Spice Girls, which his wife belongs to.
“I hope soccer makes an impression [on L.A. and the United States],” he said in his British accent. “The most L.A. thing I do is … well, the boys like surfing.” Maybe the surfboard award will be of use then. David did not reveal his plans for the board, some celebrities have decided to use it as a surfboard, except LC who thought, “I don’t know, I guess I think it’s rude to surf with awards.”
Everything goes back to family with this man. When asked what inspires him, he answered, “My parents, my children, my family. You know, I look up to them.” The British superstar is “hoping to play in the 2010 World Cup.” Shawn Johnson won Female Athlete for Gymnastics. She was in China, so she could not accept the award. Ryan Sheckler won for Choice Action Sports Male and for Choice MySpacer.
Drake Bell and Sophia Bush (who wins for Best Dress — it was beautiful) gave the award for choice comedian to Adam Sandler. Adam did a great speech and recognized the troops overseas. Drake Bell won for Breakout Male in the Movie category. Drake has a new Drake and Josh Christmas movie coming out, “ We started it last week. We were done for 2 1/2 years so it’s like a high school reunion.”
The Teen Choice Awards 2008 are done and over. Congratulations to all of the winners. Maybe there’ll be a surf party later.
