Stars arrived on the red blue carpet last Sunday at 3PM, all wondering the same thing: Will I win a coveted surfboard, the award of the 2008 Teen Choice Awards?
The categories varied from TV to Movies to Music to Fashion to Comedy to Sports to Special Awards, which included the Do Something Award, Most Fanatic Fans, and Choice MySpacer. My predictions — which I made last Wednesday — weren’t that bad. The red carpet was awesome.
The show started with host Miley Cyrus performing “7 Things.” She really drew the crowd in. Miley also did a very good job as host, impressing many other celebrities. Drake Bell said Miley “is doing great.” Chad Michael Murray, who won for Choice TV Actor: Drama, told the press, “Miley’s rockin’ it. I’ve never met her. I don’t really follow her career. But she has all this spare energy. She should be proud.” Channing Tatum called her charismatic. Miley also won Choice Music: Female Artist, Choice TV Actress: Comedy (Steve Carell won male and Get Smart won Summer Movie: Comedy), and Hannah Montanawon Choice TV Show: Comedy.
Mariah Carey also did a performance of “I’ll Be Loving You A Long Time,” which also adds to the Teen Choice Award’s coolness factor. She deserved a surfboard for her performance.
M&M Dance Crew — featuring Miley Cyrus, Mandy Jiroux, and a lot of incredibly hot dancers — faced off against the dance troop ACDC in the ultimate dance contest. The battle started online and took the stage on Monday night. I personally liked ACDC better for the simple reason that M&M’s music was absolutely horrible. Both were good dancers. And I met two of the guys in M&M and they were incredibly sweet. M&M won by audience applause. It was close but Fergie called Miley’s crew the winner.
Some Jonas Brothers fans asked the Jonas Brothers questions for the segment “Ask the Jonas Brothers.” The boys did their signature dance moves. And Joe described his perfect date: “Well, I would start by riding up on a beautiful white horse. Fly to Paris and then Barcelona. Maybe we’d see a movie.” Kevin also revealed the weirdest fan gift — their first hippo. The Jonas Brothers also swept the competition. Brittany Snow presented them with SIX awards: Choice Single/Love Song: “When You Look Me in The Eyes,” Choice Breakout Group, Choice Male Hottie (Vanessa Hudgens won Female), Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon Male (Carrie Underwood won Female), and Choice Summer Song “Burnin’ Up.” They thanked their mom and dad first (aww...), then their manager, after that their fans, and then their band.
