JibJab Launches Scary Political Spoofs ... Starring You

Halloween's around the corner, and the American political scene is heating up. What could be more natural than combining the two into a digital mini-movie starring random people like you and me?

Digital comedy studio JibJab, equal opportunity political satirists famous for viral videos like "This Land" and "What We Call the News," today launched “Night of the Living Democrats” and “Night of the Living Republicans” in conjunction with CNN Politics. Upload a photo, cut out your head, and battle mindless liberal zombies or brainless conservative ghouls in the style of Night of the Living Dead.

The political shorts come on the heels of the August debut of JibJab's Starring You technology, which lets you and your friends star in the tackiest of dance scenes, or in fake movie trailers like Math Camp Massacre and the Dirty Harry-esque Unnecessary Force.

It's been a busy few months for JibJab. Gregg Spiridellis, cofounder of the company along with brother Evan, gave me a hint of things to come at the Banff World Television Festival in June:

"We hope to literally make JibJab a branded comedy network so that wherever you are, on your cell phone, obviously on the web, on IPTV, that JibJab is a place you can turn to for really well-produced, premium branded comedy."

With their usual selection of original and user-created videos, and the new Starring You videos popping up everywhere, it seems JibJab is positioning themselves well to fulfill their plan for world –- or at least Internet video — domination. Spooky.
