Hannah Montana is Disney’s gem. Talk to most female tweens — the show is the best thing since the invention of the Internet. The number of fans is amazing and the show is the most successful on the Disney Channel. I think it's safe to say that Disney is making a lot of money off of Hannah Montana.
And yet Miley Cyrus, Hollywood’s teen queen and star of Hannah Montana, told press that season three — which is set to film after the Hannah Montana movie — may be the last season of the ever-popular show. She said, “We're thinking this is our last season." Simple as that.
Miley justified (not like she really had to) this by saying, “I just think we did a lot of episodes. We basically did two seasons in one last year. Usually people would do one season that would be, like, 16 episodes, and we did almost 30 episodes!"
Miley did, however, add that just because Hannah Montana may be ending, she wasn’t stepping away from her “family,” referring to the Disney company. Whether this means she plans to work with the company is unclear.
It makes sense that Miley is growing sick of the show and is ready to move on. Honestly, the girl is growing older and more mature and needs to step away from the Hannah mask. I think she wants to, too. Her music is completely different from Hannah’s music. More edgy, I think. Her new album Breakout came out July 22. It was pretty good, but very, very different. She’s 15 now and Disney is getting a bit … she’s outgrowing them. Judging by the recent photo scandal (if that’s what you want to call it) she obviously isn’t fitting the Disney image anymore. Clean cut. I think that every Disney star grows up and flees the nest. If they didn’t, Britney Spears would still be on the channel. Now, that would be weird.
Disney is not addressing the end of Hannah Montana. After all, why upset the kids when nothing is set in stone? They released the following statement: "Miley said it best when she said she's delighted to be part of the Disney family; we start production on the third season of Hannah Montana on August 4 and have an option for a fourth season beyond that. We look forward to the Hannah Montana feature film coming to a theatre near you in Spring 2009."
Honestly, I do agree that Hannah Montana is a great show. But all great things must end, whether it’s season three or season seven. I guess time will tell.

Wow. I cant believe someone actually said "something has to be done about [Miley]" in the same sentence where they claim to love her. Miley deserves her own life and if she doesn't want to be Hannah forever then thats her right. Get over it people. Miley is a human being with a life, friends, and a career.
