Interview with Curtis Hanson, Director of Lucky You

SuChin’s take:

Hands down, one of my most favorite interviews I’ve ever done. It is so rare to do an interview with someone who’s had such a long, successful resume in Hollywood, and have an intelligent, thoughtful, non-soundbite interview.

I can see why actors continue to seek him out, he just has a way of focusing attention on exactly what is being said in the moment you’re saying it — know what I mean? He’s kind of involved in the strangest and most creative projects — we sat down the day before he was heading to Vietnam to help the country build their own private film industry!

Curtis Hanson loves movies. Loves making them, talking about them, analyzing them, the business, the art, sitting in a dark random theater — I mean he’s worked with everyone from Meryl Streep to De Niro to Eminem. Okay, that’s enough star gushing. I’m even making myself nauseous. Just let me know if after seeing this interview you don’t have the tiniest, smallest little crush. Be honest.
