I did not know how to surf before I started working on Beyond the Break. I grew up on a lake in Canada so there is a huge difference between a lake and an ocean! I had some lessons before we left for Hawaii in Venice. It was a little overwhelming but I always enjoy a challenge. I improved a lot and got a better understanding of the Ocean once we were in Hawaii. It was very exciting! When do you get the opportunity to learn how to surf and get paid to do it?!
What do you like most about playing Dawn?
I love how strong her personality is and the way she takes control of any situation. She's very different from me in those ways so it's nice to live through Dawn when I'm in front of the camera!
The writers have started a budding romance between your character, Dawn, and Jason Tam's character, Shoe. Is there any chance the two will ever become an official couple?
I can't say! But it gets very interesting....you will have to tune in!
If you can be any other character on the show, who would it be and why?
I would be Lacey. Lacey's character is polar opposite to Dawn so it would be a nice change for fans to see me in a very different light.
What's it like working with the rest of the cast of Beyond the Break?
We were very lucky to have such great people to work with, especially being on location. Filming away from home is hard because you’re away from your home, family and friends. It's important to create a home away from home. That's what it was — the cast, the crew — everyone was amazing and easy to get along with.
What's your most embarrassing moment on set?
Well, unfortunately for me, my most embarrassing moment was shown on TV! I didn't know there was a behind the scenes camera and I picked a huge wedgy! Not so cute!
