How did you land your first job in Hollywood?
When I arrived in Los Angeles, the first thing I did was get a paying job. A guy was renovating our apartment building, and I said if he ever needed help to let me know. (I had worked construction in Massachusetts for my brother in law, in between college years, and for some time after college.) So he knocked on my door the next day, and I began working for him.
He would let me audition, during the day if I had stuff going on. I had a commercial
agent, and modeling agent, and was also studying acting at a night. Eventually, after a year and half, I auditioned for Baywatch, and got it (after 5 auditions and a swim test).
Before being on Beyond the Break, you starred in shows such as Baywatch and Witchblade. How did it feel to be a part of such great shows?
Both Baywatch and Witchblade were great shows. Both very different. Baywatch was great because they gave me time to grow, and I was very good at the action, swimming, driving boats, scuba diving etc. Witchblade was a darker, edgier show, that was fantastically written.
In 1997, you were voted by People magazine as one of the world's "50 Most Beautiful People." What was your reaction and how big of a shock was it?
Being voted one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful in 1997 was a great honor. It was kind of funny, I don't really think of myself that way, so it was a bit weird. But a great honor, because they have had some amazing people in that issue over the years.
What's your favorite thing about being on Beyond the Break?
My favorite thing about Beyond The Break is the people involved in the show, from the actors, to the creators, to the crew, it’s just a great group of people. But a close second was shooting in Hawaii. What an amazing place. I love the ocean and I love to surf in real life, so it was a dream come true.
