"Human Cargo" is a distinctive Canadaian mini-series broadcast on CBC. This six hour serial is about the interjoined stories of a failed political candidate who gets a patronage position on a refugee hearing board, her daughter who goes to work with an NGO in Burundi and meets the family of a man who escapes slave labour in a mine. He evenutally gets to Canada, where he seeks refuge.
While it may not be thrilling stuff by 'murrican standards (though there is sex, drugs, violence and rockish music) this is a thoughtful look at globalization.
One of the actors Bayo Akinfemi is an immigrant from Africa.
