So the result of all this is that "legislation" might be necessary according to John McCain. I can't really say that I agree. The FCC is in place and has the ability to fine people already. Maybe they need to be more liberal with their fines. Maybe the service providers of TV signals need to have these "a la carte" packages of channels so that decency decisions can be made by parents. Do we really need additional legislation to accomplish this?
I will tell you one thing though. I find this use of time by lawmakers to be pretty indecent and offensive. Of all the things that we have going on in this country, I am sure they didn't need to make time to run CBS and the NFL through the grinder over some stunt pulled by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake via an MTV production.
Was it wrong? Yes. Should some fines go out? Yes. Is all this extra special attention necessary? Certainly not. Do we need new laws? I am willing to venture a guess that there are more than enough on file to take care of a situation like this. All you have to do is use them.

Craig,
I agree totally with you - though what you are asking is for the politicians to stop being politicians. The recent boob scoop is too big for politicians to pass up. It looks good for them, people are paying attention, jump in while the fire is hot. Is it a farce? Yes, absolutely....Will something be accomplished? Probably not.
