Frontline/World

The 2nd & 3rd Frontline/World programs air this and next Thursday night on most PBS stations. While Frontline focuses on one topic, this new program (which may become a weekly series) features several magazine pieces. But you aren't likely to see these "stories from a small world" on 20/20, Dateline or even 60 Minutes.

This week's stories are on the legacy of genocide in Cambodia, internet access in poor communities in India, and Andrei Codrescu's return to Romia. He gave a preview of what is contained in his report earlier this month on NPR and today did a commentary (text or audio).

. Next week, there is a report on Columbia and "Truth & Lies in Bagdad."

Streaming video of all stories is available after each broadcast (and last spring's first show featuring suicide bombers in Sri Lanka, the introduction of television in Bhutan, and gun running in Sierra Leone is already online). Even, if you have a slow connection, there are plenty of text stories on the site (which won an Online Journalism Award).

Aaron Barnhart writes about the Frontline/World (second item) which focuses on the India segment which is part of a longer docuemntary on the Hole in the Wall Project.

I worked with series editor Stephen Talbot and production manager Rachel Raney at the Center For Investigative Reporting on documentaries for Frontline almost a decade ago.
