Fox to Premiere Six New Shows for Summer

Fox has taken the next step in the ratings wars: year-round programming. The network announced today that it will debut six new shows in June:

Dramas The North Shore (Mondays, 8 p.m. ET/PT, June 14), with an ensemble cast set at a Hawaiian hotel; The Jury (Tuesdays, 9 pm. ET/PT, June 8), a courtroom series focused on deliberations from Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson (Homicide, Oz).

Comedies Quintuplets (Wednesdays, 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, June 16) with Andy Richter as dad to five 15-year-olds; Method & Red (Wednesdays, 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, June 16) starring Method Man and Redman as rappers who move to a gated community.

Reality fare The Simple Life 2 (Wednesdays, 9 pm. ET/PT, June 16), following "celebutantes" Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie on a motor home tour; The Casino (Mondays, 9 p.m. ET/PT, June 14) from producer Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice), which goes behind the scenes at Las Vegas' Golden Nugget.

Expect the other networks to follow suit, if not this summer, than certainly by 2005.

It's about time! With the way the television industry has changed since the days of the Big Three, I have often wondered and the kids have oftn asked, why we have shows for about half a year. In the olden days, we stopped watching TV when it stayed light later. Now, we watch all the time and the networks sell advertising all the time. Why not bring new shows in all the time?

Looking forward to watching The Casino.

We used to stay downtown at Fitzgerald's when we visited Vegas. I like movies and TV shows with casino backdrops. CourtTV did an interesting piece recently on that MIT team who took millions playing Blackjack.

With Burnett producing, Casino definately has potential, but the only one I'm really looking forward to from this list is Quintuplets. Andy Richter's previous show was hilarious and met an early death without Fox really giving it a chance to find an audience. Hopfully being out there as one of the few new programs this summer will help this one along.
