The inaugural lineup of The CW network is the focus of this entry in the series.
The CW is the newest network to join the primetime fray, although its lineup may seem familiar. This is because The CW is a merger of UPN and The WB. The name comes from the companies involved. CBS (who owned UPN) and Warner Bros. each own a 50% share of the new network. The consolidation of UPN and The WB has resulted in a large number of shows being cancelled. The WB's Everwood, Charmed, and Blue Collar TV, along with five of the eight African-American comedies UPN aired (One On One, Half & Half, Eve, Cuts, and Love Inc.), did not make the cut. However, two fan favorites from The WB, Reba and 7th Heaven, both were given last-minute reprieves. Reba will air in midseason. 7th Heaven, which aired its "series finale" in May, is returning in the fall. With a slate that features the best of the networks that preceded it, will The CW be able to make a splash and play with their bigger competitors?…

I too think it is a huge mistake to not bring back the character of Toni Childs. I have watched Girlfriends since the first toesucking pilot. (That was the name of the pilot) and I have watched Jill's character grow from a selfish, self-centered, materialistic, immature woman, to a god loving, wonderful mother. I believe that this is the last season for Girlfriends and they have lost a once faithful viewer-ME.

Please oh please bring back RELATED. If you can bring a show back from a series finale, then you can bring back RELATED. Every female I know watched it. We are all devastated that you are not bringing it back next season. Please, reconsider.

I should have known it would happen. Just as African Americans had shows they could watch and relate to. That the brillant people who make the decisions would decide that we have too much good tv to view. I enjoyed Half & Half. Mona's character was on that a lot of hard working Black women could relate to. The dating pool is so hard to swin. Too many sharks. But she showed that it could be defeated. And as we watched her do this it gave us hope and tips. But now it's been zapped. We don't even know what man she choose. It just left the fans hanging. I'm sure the decision was made not to renew it. A proper ending could have been done so that fans would have closure.

Let's face it, this is the beginning of the end for Girlfriends. WHAT?! NO TONI CHILDS. Please, her bitchiness is what gave that show its edge. The show won't be the same without her and I don't plan on watching it this season. I give it one more season b/f the show is cancelled for good. I am also sorry to see Half & Half go - I enjoyed that show. Unfortunately, there is not enough quality progamming for African Americans today.

This sucks. Why r most of the african-american shows being cancelled. I liked cuts and eve. They should put all the shows that got cut on the same channel that upn was on. And whats gonna happen to what i like about you? That was one of my favorite friday nite shows on the wb. Whoever decided to emerge the wb and upn together is stupid!!!!!!

i am truely upset that related was cancelled. like many of the other posts on here i am a 20 something and i related sooo much to each of these characters. i didn't get to see what happed to anne and danny and that in it's self is devestating. my hope that another network would pick up the series is gone since keile sanchez is on lost or some other show that i don't watch. maybe someday execs will realize what a horrible mistake it was to lose such a great quality show like related. :(

I am extremely disappointed that Everwood is not on the Fall lineup. This is truly a quality show. It is well written and speaks to the issues of today. The actors are outstanding, believable, and feel like family. Please bring it back mid-season. It and 7th Heaven were my only reason to tune into the WB.

I hope that CW will add the program charmed to the schedule.

I think its completley ridiculous that they got rid of Charmed and Related those were two of my favorite shows and Related had just started. It kinda pisses me off that they brought back 7th Heaven after they aired the series finale and everything I think they should do the same with Charmed it was 20 times better than 7th Heaven ever will be and Related did they even show a series finale for that one because i must of missed it and i havent seen any re-runs. on a more positive note though at least they didnt kill Gilmore Girls its also one of my favs and if they get rid of that one I think they'll be making a huge mistake
