Elvira's Haunted Hills is just in time for Halloween. The long awaited second feature from Elvira is a tribute to Roger Corman's 60s Poe movies starring Vincent Price. Corman's movies, including "The Raven", "The Pit and the Pendulum" and "The Fall of the House of Usher" were textbook examples (he wrote the textbook with his memoir "How I Made a Hundred Movies in Hollywood and Never Lost a Dime") of how to make the most of what was at hand. In particular, he budgeted the same amount for the sets and reused them over the course of all of the Poe movies, so they got better looking with every film.
In "Elvira's Haunted Hills", Elvira is in 18th century Europe on her way to gay Paree, and spends the weekend in a mysterious castle owned by Baron Hellsubus, played by Richard O'Brien (Rocky Horror Picture Show).
The DVD features a "making of" documentary including the filming in Romania and making the most of a very low budget (especially one of the best gags in the movie, the dubbed voice of the Stable hand).
