DVD Review: Yoga to the Rescue Collection with Desiree Rumbaugh

The Yoga to the Rescue Collection is a value priced boxed set of three DVDs that was released on April 6, 2010. This collection features Anusara Yoga and includes Yoga to the Rescue: Feel Good from Head to Toe, Yoga to the Rescue for Back Pain, and Yoga to the Rescue for Neck & Shoulders. Desiree Rumbaugh leads these three yoga programs that are meant to provide pain relief and improve strength and flexibility.

Desiree Rumbaugh has 20 years of yoga experience as both a practitioner and an instructor. She has been featured at several Yoga Journal conferences and inspired the Blue Canoe line of yoga apparel.

Yoga to the Rescue: Feel Good from Head to Toe is a yoga program that is geared for those who aren't sure they're flexible enough for a regular yoga workout either because of chronic pain or because they are out of shape. This DVD helps those with neck pain, tight shoulders, weak wrists, back pain, aching feet, and low core strength. The program features stretching, strengthening, and massaging more than an actual workout. This is a very low impact yoga routine and each movement is explained very carefully so beginners will have ho problems following along. There are also modifications included for those who need something either easier or more challenging. There is a bonus feature titled "The Pose for Instant Calm." The total running time is approximately 60 minutes.

Yoga to the Rescue for Back Pain is meant for people who suffer from back pain or stiffness due to a sedentary life or too much time spent at a desk. The workout on this DVD features therapeutic exercises that will help you improve your posture, ease pressure, relieve tightness, and increase your circulation. The DVD begins with a simple standing pose but also features floor movements. Andrew Rivin works with Desiree Rumbaugh on this DVD to show modified movements using easier positions in case the traditional ones are too difficult. There are no bonus features on this DVD, and the total running time is 66 minutes.
