I have a theory as to why The Red Green Show ran for so many years and is still playing in syndication. It’s funny, and the oddball antics may have been enough to endear it to some but there is also an accurate - if not deep - understanding of male behaviour that runs through the show. I believe that every man (every Canadian man at least) has a secret handyman dwelling in their hearts. They long to make do, and fix up, avoid their wives and make raunchy jokes that somehow never cross over into the obscene. They can give a hearty “Amen” to the men’s prayer that begins each Possum Lodge Meeting. “I’m a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.”
"A sinister cabal of superior writers."
