DVD Review: Supernatural - The Complete First Season

As a lover of all things paranormal and “otherworldly,” I was very anxious to see Supernatural.  With two children, I rarely have the time to indulge in TV time of my own, which causes me to miss out on several of the weekly shows that I would love to check out.  Needless to say, I was thrilled with the opportunity to view the DVD collection of Supernatural:  The Complete First Season

I must admit that I quickly and easily became hooked from the very first episode and had to more or less tear myself away to do the “necessary” routine things of life.  You know, supper, laundry, etc.  Yes, it was that great.  The fact that this was also on Blu-ray added an extra and deeper dimension to my viewing pleasure with crisper and clearer visuals and outstanding audio sound.

For those not familiar with Supernatural, it is a series that revolves around two brothers, Sam and Dean, ultimately in search of their father mysteriously  missing.  During the course of their search, the brothers come in contact with everything from vampires, witches, and ghosts to iconic figures of urban legends such as Hook and Bloody Mary. This twist and addition of figures from folklore and urban legends adds an excellent concept to the series and is one of the reasons that I loved it as much as I did.

Lovers of paranormal and the unexplainable will devour this series without hesitation.  The cast is excellent - Jared Padalecki (Sam) and Jensen Ackles (Dean) display amazing talent as they deal with anything that comes their way, while the storylines and plots are highly addictive and engrossing.

Supernatural: The Complete First Season contains all 22 episodes of the season, as well as such great extras as "The Devil's Road Map: Interactive Map Guide to Season One's Urban Legends and Unusual Facts," Commentaries on the pilot and "Phantom Traveler," as well as additional featurettes, including "Day in the Life of Jared," "Jensen and Supernatural: Tales from the Edge of Darkness," and unaired/extended scenes.

An excellent collection to satisfy fans of the paranormal and just great TV viewing, Supernatural:  The Complete First Season is perfection and I highly recommend it!
