Scooby and the gang are back for another set of four adventures from the first season of the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! series from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Hello Mummy follows Volume 1: A Monster Catch and Volume 2: Bump in the Night, each of which capture four episodes from the first season.
If you've forgotten about Scooby-Doo, he's a goofy talking Great Dane who hangs around with four teenagers — Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma — who drive around in the Mystery Machine van solving mysteries. Generally the gang drives up to a location, discovers that something strange is going on, and then works to find clues and solve the mystery or crime. Fred is the athletic leader of the group. Scooby and Shaggy are scaredy cats with huge appetites and typically the bait for any traps Fred comes up with. Daphne is a rich fashion plate with karate skills. And Velma is the brains of the outfit.
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! began airing in the fall of 1969 on CBS and ran for two seasons. It spun off a number of other cartoon series, including The New Scooby-Doo Movies, The Scooby-Doo Show (part of The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour), Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, and most recently What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, and Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins which is slated to air on the Cartoon Network sometime in fall 2009.
Volume 3: Hello Mummy serves up episodes 9 to 12 from the first season of Scooby-Doo's original Saturday morning cartoon series. The four episodes include: "The Backstage Rage," "Bedlam in the Bigtop," "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts," and "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too." Also included is a bonus episode from Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue — "High Society Scooby."
In "The Backstage Rage", Shaggy and Scooby find a violin case stuffed with money, but the case is stolen when Scooby is distracted by a puppet. The gang follow the puppet lead to a local puppet theater where they find an old puppeteer and a counterfeit money scheme.
