Prison Break was a series that aired on FOX from 2005 to 2009. The original premise saw Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) accused of murdering the brother of the Vice President of the United States. Lincoln is sentenced to death and incarcerated in Fox River State Penitentiary. Lincoln's brother, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), is convinced that Lincoln is innocent. He gets himself arrested and sent to the same prison since he has an escape plan. The first two seasons were very well done, and the producers had the plans to make it a two-season series, but FOX, in their greed, wanted more episodes and the series got more ridiculous and implausible before it finally limped to an ending in May 2009. As fans of the series know, the end of the series flash forwarded four years to give some closure to the characters' fate. The last scene is of Lincoln, Sucre, Mahone, Sara, and Michael Jr. going to Michael’s grave.
Prison Break: The Final Break is a two-episode epilogue turned into a direct to DVD film which reveals what happened to Michael Scofield. Following the events of season four, where everyone has been exonerated for all deeds committed during the series' run, Michael and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) are married in a simple ceremony. But Sara is arrested for the murder of Christina Scofield (who she killed in self defense, but the video tape only shows Sara pulling the trigger, not defending herself and Michael) and while she’s awaiting sentencing is being held in prison because of overcrowding.
Michael devises a plan to break out his wife and unborn child — however he is now known for the Fox River breakout, and other breakouts over the past few years and the FBI and the prison take extra precautions with Sara. However Michael is aware of his notoriety and uses that to his advantage. During his planning he learns old enemies Gretchen Morgan, Jonathan Krantz, and Theodore Bagwell are in the women and men’s portions of the prison and uses their desire of revenge against him and Sara to implement his plan.
