Mind of Mencia is one of the biggest hits on Comedy Central. The show centers on comedian Carlos Mencia, who bills himself as an “equal opportunity offender,” and what comes out of his mouth is disgusting, racist, sexist, rude, anti-everything you can think of, and as far from politically correct as you can be. His show is very funny and no one is safe from his verbal barbs. The show is a mix of stand-up comedy, skits, monologues, man-on-the-street interviews, and interaction with the studio audience.
With 11 epsiodes, Mind of Mencia’s fourth season is the shortest in the show's run (past seasons have had 12-14 episodes each); this season took place on a new stage with a new set. The show usually starts off with a parody of a current hot topic, and then goes into some very funny stand-up from Mencia, followed by various skits showcasing his sense of humor. Fans of Mencia’s show love him because he’s not afraid to take on any stereotype; and when it comes to stereotypes no one is exempt. This past season sees him taking on issues such as gay marriage, emo teens, and — a constant for all four seasons — white guilt. A new feature was added this season, "The Adventures of Carlitos," which are animated tales from Mencia’s childhood.
The DVD release is better than the television production in all aspects. Due to television rules and regulations Comedy Central is not allowed to air the show with graphic content. But with this DVD you can now view season four the way it was meant to be seen, with all of the foul language and explicit skits uncensored, which makes for some remarkably first-rate comedic entertainment. I'm happy to report that the DVD release does not contain the bleeps and blurs.
