DVD Review: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - Choo Choo Express

Part of: Sights of the Season: BC Video Covers the Holidays

Hop aboard the Clubhouse Train with your favorite animated Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo Choo Express. This movie is based on the original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the Disney Channel. This fun, new two-part episode gives viewers a fresh look at holiday movies and is definitely not your cookie cutter Christmas remake.

Your favorite characters, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and Professor Ludwig von Drake, want to make this Christmas the most fun ever. Professor von Drake has created a never-melting, "easy-freezy" snow and the clubhouse crew decides to have a snow party.

On their adventure to Mistletoe Mountain to retrieve the special snow, Mickey and his friends encourage the viewer to participate. Viewers help call on "Toodles," the flying Mickey-head-shaped helper and help choose which Mousekatool to use to solve the day's problems.

My favorite song of the entire show is the recurring "Choo Choo Boogie." It's an upbeat song with simple lyrics and my preschooler was up and dancing around the house. Another song in the film is by They Might Be Giants, who also have two original songs on the television show. Their new song for this film is "Choo Choo Express."

Aside from the great songs to engage the viewer, I love the clarity of the picture in this film. The bright colors and sparkling snow are a great way to keep any child's attention.

I enjoy that Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo Choo Express keeps all the wonderful learning values of the television show while adding the excitement of these new snow-filled adventures. The fun antics of Donald Duck and Goofy will keep you rolling on the ground with laughter while friends Minnie and Daisy show off their snow mouse-making skills. From start to finish your child is learning about shapes, counting, patterns, and even how to tell time. What more could a parent ask for more?

The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo Choo Express DVD also features bonus episodes, three fun ways to watch and play, and an interactive adventure mode. I would definitely recommend this to any parent and child as a fun addition to your Christmas classics library. You'll want to watch it over and over.
