The third season of Grey's Anatomy focuses on marriage, death, and giving up. And if that sounds depressing, that’s because it is. Luckily, there are also plenty of hook-ups and sex, along with great writing, which makes the drama not so dark.
For anyone who’s been living under a rock, Grey’s Anatomy is about medical interns Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight).
The cast is rounded out by Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) ... a.k.a. McDreamy, Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), Addison (Kate Walsh), Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), and Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez).
Season two ended with Izzie’s fiancé, Denny, dying and leaving her millions of dollars in the form of a check that she stares at day after day instead of rushing it to the bank.
This season delves deeper into Meredith’s childhood, particularly her cold and demanding mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, and her weak father. By far the best part of the season are the preparations for the impending nuptials of Christina and Burke. Oh delivers sharp lines and raw emotion with equal ease as her character navigates a relationship with romantic and traditional Burke.
