DVD Review: Frasier - The Tenth Season

What is it that I love so much about watching a snotty, middle-aged psychiatrist stick his foot in his mouth time and again? I’m not sure, but it makes for good comedy and I tune in every time. In the tenth season of Frasier the cast is back for another round of laughs as well as a few tender moments.

One of my favorite episodes from this season is the one where Daphne and Niles finally get married. This was the one thing, as a long-time fan, that I had been waiting for. But they just don’t get married once. They get married three times in their attempts to please everyone around them. The pair writes their own vows and the third time around Niles has problems remembering what exactly it is he is supposed to be saying. This is also the season in which Niles has heart surgery and keeps the viewers glued to the edge of their seats as they wait to see the outcome. Of course it turns out well, otherwise this might be the final season.

While Daphne and Niles have at long last have found love, Frasier is still looking. When Julia (Felicity Huffman), a new face at the radio station, starts cutting in on Frasier’s air time, we know it is only a matter of time before the two realize that all the hostility is really attraction. But before anything can really get started, Frasier, in his trademark way, sticks his foot in his mouth. This has to be one of my favorite moments in the entire season. Thanks to Frasier the entire station is forced to take a sexual harassment class.

But this season is full of great moments: Frasier refusing to pay a two dollar parking bill, Daphne trying to throw a successful dinner party, Martin fighting off Daphne’s mom Gertrude Moon's (Millicent Martin) advances, and of course the episode in which Bulldog and Frasier team up to play a prank on Roz and the rest of the gang.
