DVD Review: Final Destination 3 - Page 3

Dead Teen Movies is a hilarious and sometimes slightly too serious look at teenage slasher movies, their impact, and discussions on why they're so popular. It's a half hour long, packed with classic movie clips, and it all comes back to relate to Final Destination.

Disc 2 is then owned by Kill Shot, an hour and a half documentary on the film. Nothing is missing, and everyone involved is open and honest. The two girls who meet an unfortunate fate inside a tanning booth talk about the nudity and why it was needed. There's an excellent scene about fire and stuntmen, building the drive thru from an abandoned lot, and countless pieces of information on the gore (chopped bananas work wonders in place of brain matter).

Even after all that, there's still more on specific scenes, each given their own seven or so minute look at the issues of filming elaborate deaths like the ones featured. One extended scene could was not only a wise cut from the film, it doesn't really need to be here either. Besides, there's far too much material here to waste time on a small cut. Once you skip that, you can head over the promotional section to see another 20-minute look at making the film (which is a slightly better than average advertising piece) and a few trailers.

All three films in this series have superb DVD releases all around. The audio alone is worth the price for a hardcore home theater buff. The extras only make it more enticing to own all three, and an unspectacular but complete box set makes it easier yet.
