DVD Review: Comedy Central Salutes George W. Bush - Page 3

I will group the rest of the clips together in one paragraph since there are a lot of them. They are all pretty quick, but each one serves its purpose on the DVD. The Last Laugh Squad (Lewis Black, Dave Attell, and D.L. Hughley) cartoon is really funny. There are also some Last Laugh comedy clips from 2006 starring Lewis Black, Greg Giraldo, and Patton Oswalt. All three comedians never fail to deliver and Comedy Central grouped together some of their best Bush moments here. There is also a clip of comedian Carlos Mencia serving as an anchor for the World Nightly News reporting on Bush taking over as the leader on Iraq due to his higher approval rating over there as opposed to in the states. I am not normally a Mencia fan, but I will admit that this clip was pretty amusing and earned its spot on this DVD. There are two Comedy Central quickies from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The special report on Marines in Berkeley by Rob Riggle and Steven Colbert’s wag of the finger segment are both wonderful segments that will make you laugh every time. Finally, the clip from Comedy Central Presents clip from Frank Caliendo’s stand-up is a must see. Frank Caliendo, who does amazing impersonations, captures President Bush better than anyone else I have ever seen. He nails it from the speech, to the expressions, to the personality.

All in all, I truly enjoyed watching this collection saluting George W. Bush. I would say it is a must have for the Root of All Evil episode, the comedy clips, and especially Frank Caliendo’s segment. The only downside for me was the That’s My Bush episode, but if you really like Trey Parker and Matt Stone, you may enjoy it. I plan on getting another copy for a friend of mine, because I think it makes a pretty good gift for people who may not be the biggest Bush fans around.
