For the past four years Carlos Mencia has had an outlet for his unique brand of comedy in his show Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central. The show features Mencia’s monologues, skits, man-on-the-street interviews, and his stand-up comedy. Mencia is not for the easily offended as he is an equal opportunity offender; you'll see him rip on everyone and everything in his show, albeit in a censored-for-television format. Occasionally he’ll do his act at various venues like the most recent release, Carlos Mencia: Performance Enhanced - Extended & Uncensored.
Mencia takes on everyone in this one-hour stand-up special. No one’s safe; not blacks, whites, Mexicans, gays, Jews, the disabled, or what seems to be his favorite target — the mentally and physically challenged. Mencia filmed this performance live at the Hard Rock Hotel Theater in Florida and if you think he’s “un-PC” in his show you ain’t seen nothing yet! While his TV show has his act in “bite-sized chunks,” here he gets to rant for as long as he wants and each topic just seems to flow into the next.
In Carlos Mencia: Performance Enhanced - Extended & Uncensored he riffs on everything from his trip to the Middle East to what he thinks about the N-word to his POV on women who just keep liking jerks, military gays, a black president, modern superheroes, and why vegetarians are hypocrites.
Mencia works “blue” which means his act is full of dirty words that are not appropriate for all ages. When this special aired on Comedy Central it was censored, but since there’s no restrictions on the DVD you get to hear the act as it was originally performed.
It’s surprising that a DVD of his stand-up act has extras but this DVD does. The special features included in this DVD are the Dean Carlos segment from his show Mind of Mencia, Mencia’s appearance on MTV’s Cribs, and most importantly 20 minutes of material that the audience saw at the gig but were cut for time when it aired on Comedy Central.Carlos Mencia: Performance Enhanced - Extended & Uncensored is a funny DVD by a funny comedian who gets to say what a lot of people are thinking but won’t say in public.
