For a moment anyway.
“Reprise”
Kareem J. Grimes and Nana Hill do a whole lot of nothing for this very, very short story. Well, they do something. For the sake of children who might accidentally read this review, I won’t go into details.
“Tonight, Parts 1 and 2”
Mylika Davis plays a virgin who is looking to share her first time with someone special while encountering a few road bumps on the way. I felt a bit uncomfortable with this story mostly because it appeared the character she played was so desperate to have a first time with someone. Everyone, man or woman, has been in her place — it’s just a tad frightening to see what you go through to get that one who will give you your first time.
“American Boyfriend”
Alphonso Johnson plays a man who finds himself trapped in his girlfriend’s bedroom during a visit over to her house. To further complicate things, his girlfriend (Emily Liu) is Asian while he is African-American. A rather plain story despite the theme of interracial love, but it’s not nearly as depressing as the other stories in this anthology.
For those of you who might find this film worthy of further exploration, there’s a special features section which includes a behind the scenes featurette, a performance of "Reciprocity" on a live stage, and a few deleted scenes.
There are days in my adult life where beating Super Mario Brothers was a better idea of a good time than the pursuit of a woman. My trials at dating, and this film, tell me that I probably shouldn't have asked to grow up so soon. Rather than watch A Good Day To Be Black And Sexy, find a good reason to be happy and alive.

Wow. You really didn't get this movie. At all.

I totally agree with your synopsis of this anthology. It was definitely Black, but there was nothing sexy about it.

I agree with invisiblewoman. This movie cleverly focuses on the taboos that are interwoven through Black Sex and Love. Anyone that has been in a sexual relationship should be able to watch each scene and enjoy the humor in the truth...

I also agree with invisiblewoman. The stories were not supposed to represent ALL black relationships, just reflect certain situations that were real and relatable. I found the movie fun and a source for conversation. Definitely worth checking out. Hopefully Chonte Harris acts in something else sometime soon.
