There is a CBS special tonight - some type of reunion special show for Dallas. Victoria Principal looks plastic (Ask me about plastic surgery and the outright sickness of shows such as The Swan.)
Howard Keel, the second actor who played Miss Ellie's husband (the patriarch) died earlier this morning, at 85 years old.
From its start in 1978, "Dallas" with its combination of oil, greed, sex and duplicity had become the hottest series in television. Jim Davis, who had played the role of Jock Ewing, died in 1981, and the producers needed another strong presence to stand up to the nefarious J.R. Ewing Jr. (Larry Hagman). They chose Keel.
"The show was enormous," Keel reflected in 1995. "I couldn't believe it. My life changed again. From being out of it, I was suddenly a star, known to more people than ever before. Wherever I went, crowds appeared again, and I started making solo albums for the first time in my career."
As Clayton Farlow, husband of "Miss Ellie" Ewing (Barbara Bel Geddes), Keel remained with "Dallas" until it folded in 1991.

Its too bad that Howard did not make it to the Dallas reunion which aired last night.

Howard Keel should also be well remembered for some of his roles in musicals in the 1950's - including leads in Kiss Me Kate, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and Kismet.

I was very disapointed that no one mentioned Howard in the Dallas reunion programme.After all he was Miss Ellie's husband and he was in it for 10 years. They mentioned Barbara and Jim Davis but not a mention of Howard even though he had just passed away.
