So Tom Cruise has officially acknowledged that he's dating Katie Holmes. Big deal. I normally don't care for the tabloids (or for that matter Tom Cruise), except when I read this news, I got this sense of deja vu. Even since his divorce from Nicole Kidman, Cruise seems to pick up a hot younger actress (remember Penelope Cruz?) just months before one of his movies is coming out. What an incredible coincidence, right?
I don't think so. This is Cruise getting his revenge on all of the tabloids that had tried to destroy his character by saying he was gay over the past decade (not that there's anything wrong with that). This is Cruise milking them for a publicity stunt. And to double it up, Katie Holmes has gotten in on the act.
What could be more mutually beneficial to a 42 year old and 26 year old than announcing their new found lust for the media, while both of them JUST so happen to have movies coming out this summer? Cruise stars in the upcoming Steven Spielberg remake of "War of the Worlds," while Holmes will co-star with Christian Bale in this summer's "Batman Begins."
But let's face it, this is a smart move for them both. Cruise is getting old. The wrinkles will start to show soon despite all the makeup and Botox that money can buy. And Holmes? Come on, most people couldn't name a single project she has done since Dawson's Creek.
Alas, I'm not sure whose side to take on all this. While I have no love for tabloids and their methods, I can't exactly praise Cruise and Holmes' shameless self-promotion through their pseudo-relationship, which I give 6-8 months before self-destructing. But so it goes in the world of celebrities--- always a lesser of two evils.

In Hollywood, 42 and 26 is not much of a gap. What's bugs me is how much younger than that she looks.

You know, since Tom has a movie out pretty much every year, it would be hard for him to do anything and not have it percieved as promo for his new film coming out. But then I'm probably just biased because everyone tells me that Tom and I must be twins separated at birth. Well, maybe not everyone. Or anyone.

Tom's irrational, super-hyper, super adolescent behavior has certainly destroyed whatever little credibility he may have had and Katie is just pure stupid and power-hungry to let him use her - it feels like the boss using sexual harrassment to have his way and what can she do - he's consider a big wheel in her business- but consider he's a father of two young children and his statments belittle his history with their mother publically. Nic has a movie too - seems he's trying to put her out of the running - his dates seem so revenge driven in nature to spite Nicole - 5 weeks and He's in love like never before - brain-washing -drugs - whatever - he's not normal!

Fine, maybe I was wrong about Holmes and Cruise when I wrote this article above, since they got married today... but then maybe I was kind of right, and it was all a media ploy, but it somehow accidentally developed into something more. You know, just like that movie Dave where Kevin Kline is imitating the President and falls in love with the First Lady.
Okay, fine... I'm stretching. I just hate being wrong. Damn celebrities and their lavish shit. :)
