The cowering poltroons at CBS have caved to yet another interest group and pulled the Michael Jackson special scheduled for next week. As if the sensibilities of child advocacy groups outweigh the nation's need to see old footage of the Moonwalker spliced with stroke comments from "Dick Clark, Beyonce Knowles, Mary J. Blige and others"!
Can't a guy have several hundred surgical procedures on his face, generate three caucasian children by immaculate conception, sleep in the same bed over a fifteen year period with hundreds of pre-pubescents, dangle an infant over a balcony while cackling maniacally, and creep out an entire planet without being dogged with accusations and vile canards? Not in this solar system, IT WOULD APPEAR.
- CBS pulled a Michael Jackson music special planned for next week, saying it would be "inappropriate" to air given the new charges that the star molested a child.
....The special, "Michael Jackson Number Ones," was to air next Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST, to coincide with the release of a greatest hits package. Besides performance footage, the special was to include interviews with Dick Clark, Beyonce Knowles , Mary J. Blige and others about Jackson's impact on pop culture.
"Given the gravity of the charges against Mr. Jackson, we believe it would be inappropriate at this time to broadcast an entertainment special," CBS said in a statement issued Wednesday.
"However, we are very mindful that Mr. Jackson is innocent until proven guilty," CBS said. "We will consider broadcasting the special after the due process of the legal system runs its course."
It is the second big November ratings "sweeps" special that CBS has postponed this month. After pressure from conservatives, CBS yanked a planned television movie, "The Reagans," and gave it to the Showtime cable channel. The Reagan movie was to have aired this week. [AP]

Yah. I agree. I also read that "The Reagans" is scheduled to air the day after Thanksgiving. Interestingly, the newsies included the information that this also happens to be the second-most traveled day of the year.

Drat! I might have turned on the tube to see "The Reagans," but I don't have Show Time. I've always wanted to hear about the astrologer who was running the country during the Reagan years.

Pee-wee, Jacko and Jeffrey Jones, oh my.

lol
I'm a nut for Pee-wee, um, Paul Reubens. Has he been found guilty of more than loving himself in a movie theater?
Oh, Jeffrey Jones... Loved him in Amadeus and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Whatever was the resolution in his most unfortunate case? He was charged with having naughty pictures of children on his computer, no?
As for Jacko, I just want to weep. And I have no idea whether he is just weird or if he is dangerous. But this case, so far, does not look good. Gotta keep telling myself -- no one can take Thriller away from him.
