Carlo Carlei's Romeo & Juliet Runs Into Controversy

Part of: NewsFlash

Vogue is reporting that Douglas Booth, most known for his modelling alongside Harry Potter star Emma Watson for Burberry, might be playing the role of Romeo opposite Hailee Steinfeld in the upcoming adaptation of Romeo and Juliet directed by Carlo Carlei. However the movie, yet just in the pre-production stage, has run into major controversy.

"Controversy has arisen because Booth, who starred in the Burberry campaign images in 2009 alongside Emma Watson, and Oscar-nominated Steinfeld, who is the current face of Miu Miu, are set to bare all in the film - despite being just 19 and 14 respectively. The film's writer, Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, insists the script will adhere faithfully to Shakespeare's original premise."

In the original play by Shakespeare, Romeo was 18/19 and Juliet was 14 which perfectly fits the cast.

Alongwith Booth and Steinfeld, Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick will be playing the role of Juliet's cousin and Romeo's rival, Tybalt. Shooting for the Romeo & Juliet will begin in Verona and Siena in August.
