"Without professional help, I wouldn't be able to sit here today and talk with you and have a career and loving life," she said passionately. "I feel like I got a second chance at life. A lot of people deserve that, and they think they can do it on their own but they can't."
She stressed that her journey was only possible with a lot of support from friends and family, but she can't help but feel that too many people kept quiet while she was on the path to self-destruction, before she realized she needed help.
"Not only is it the addict's problem to reach out and get help, it's the friends and family's responsibility to reach out to stop the destruction," she added.
Hosted by Nancy O'Dell, the PRISM Awards will be simulcast on FX, Lifetime Real Women, National Geographic, ReelzChannel, Starfish, and Fox Reality Channel.
