Blu-ray Review: The Lion King - Page 3

The extras on the release include previous unreleased deleted scenes and "bloopers."  There is also a commentary track with the directors and producer Don Hahn, a behind the scenes piece discussing the film and its production, another behind the scenes piece on Hahn, and the ability to play the film in "sing-along" mode.  Should one choose to, they can sync the running of the film with a computer or iPad to obtain more information about the film as it plays out.  There are also a whole lot of bonus features which are stored online for the film and which can be streamed through your Blu-ray player.  It is true that there really is a lot there online, but I would still rather it were physically present on the disc.  The actually items included on the disc, particularly, the piece on the film's production are enjoyable (and in the case of the behind the scenes stuff, informative).

The Lion King is a truly fantastic film which shows the power of animation as a storytelling medium.  It is a singularly great achievement and a must have animated title.
