The extras on this disc are better than most. “Docudramarama: How We Make Futurama So Good" is a hilarious spoof on typical behind-the-scenes documentaries. “Matt Groening and David X. Cohen In Space” features the two producers narrating a collection of photos and video clips from their Zero G flight experience. The deleted scenes (some finished, some just animatics) were laugh-out-loud funny (a nice change of pace from the typical “I can see why these were deleted” scenes). Two animated shorts, “Bender’s Movie Theatre Etiquette” and “Zapp Brannigan’s Guide to Making Love At A Woman” are both composed solely of recycled footage from both the series and the features. The titles are the best part about these shorts – the “Bender” short even has all the old animation footage stretched to widescreen. Audio commentary features a half-dozen creators and actors. “The Acting Technique of Penn Jillette” is a featurette with the magician (who has a cameo in the film) as he records from his Vintage Nudes studio. The “How To Draw Futurama in 10 Very Difficult Steps” piece is exactly what it sounds like. Animatic and 3D modeling galleries are also here.
All in all, a tidy little Blu-ray. If you feel screwed over by the other Futurama features, this one ought to make you feel better.
