Blu-ray Review: Bruce Almighty - Page 3

In typical fashion for Universal-related releases, basic BD-Live functionality is trumpeted, but contains only the standard, generic options for the system.

Conclusion

Jim Carrey manages to reign in his goofy, elastic face long enough for Bruce Almighty to successfully pull off the difficult balancing act of a message film that's also genuinely funny and clever. An almost dream-team supporting cast help with that success, and the pacing throughout is kept sharp and to the point. This is an easy film to recommend as a rental, or a purchase for existing fans. On a technical level, the Blu-ray edition offers a somewhat bland upgrade from the DVD, but is certainly the best version available. Overall, a solidly recommended film, with enough depth to merit repeat viewings.
