Constantine is OUT - AI Rocker Shocker
Shock! Outrage! I could just cry. Tonight's American Idol shocker is that rocker Constantine is going home. In a typical AI tactic, they had it down to two camps with just Scott and Constantine. Ryan asked them...

American Idol: Why is Ryan So Mean and, (by the way) Where's the Theme?
Tuesday night, the intrepid Ryan Seacrest was apparently so full of goodwill now that he's a bonafide star (with his own star — that people walk on — but still ...) that he couldn't help but rip on visiting Clay...

American Idol: Reports From Home
In film clips on last night's show, the six American Idol got all gushy about their hometowns and families, and their families returned the favor. What are the local papers saying about their American Idol finalists? My bud Michael Heaton of...

An Opera Singer Watches American Idol.
I really do judge all singers I hear through the lense of my training as a classical vocalist.

American Idol (Week 7): The Theme That Wasn't
It wasn't exactly easy to get your arms---or ears---around this week's quote-unquote theme on American Idol. The best I can say right now is that it was "the last five years," or something like that, but it sure seemed like...

American Idol - Episode 424 - 2000-2005
The American Idol producers are clearly running out of ideas for weekly themes, as tonight's was simply any track from the past five years. One would have thought that with such a broad array of choices, the contestants would have...

American Idol Smackdown
American Idol, as always, is itching for a fight and I'm not talking about the type started by Simon Cowell last week when he got snippy about Ryan "Step on Me" Seacrest's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (Simon...

American Idol: Constantine's Band Is Signed
As followers of the show know, American Idol finalist and pouty heartthrob Constantine Maroulis took a break from his hard rock band Pray For the Soul of Betty to pursue his solo dreams of pop idolatry...

What is going on with America...are they all tone deaf? Someone with star quality is voted out and Anthony and Scott are still continuing. I don't think I will ever watch American Idol again...it gets more ridiculous every year. The judging should be left up to professionals who really know music and what it is all about.

I agree with your sentiments ladies, but remember that surprise and outrage are part of what make the show go

It's more about the 'brand' and merchandising opportunities than music per se! A shameful pleasure.

My husband and I are arguing over the past winners: are they not, in this order --
Kelley Clarkson
Ruben Stoddard
Fantasia
and this is the Fourth Competition?
THANK YOU for your help.

How darn you people of America elimate Arwar so soon. He is amazing and has a unique voice. He should of been in the top two. If I lived in America he would of got my vote.
The past winners in order are:
Kelly Clarkson 2002
Ruben Studdard 2003
Fantasia 2004
now Carrie Underwood (whom shouldn't of win)
And I only agreed with Ruben Studdard, at least with Ruben as winner I hear more about my fav. Clay Aiken.

Season 5 is certainly shaping up to be a worth while watch.

I am not much of a fan of the audition round: too much emphasis on tragically deluded fools who suck out loud
