My parents house used to have this awful wallpaper in the entry hallway and on up the stairs to the second floor. It had a repeating design of a copse of trees and some nature stuff, along with the occasional horse, and all done in shades of green. Thankfully, they replaced it within a few years of living there. A family friend once commented that it reminded him of My Friend Flicka. That's all I could think of when I heard 20th Century Fox is coming out with a film based on this classic novel. Hopefully the movie will be better than the wallpaper inspired by the book. Flicka will be in the theaters on October 20, and in the meantime you can watch a preview or listen to songs from the soundtrack on the official website.

Newmarket Films will release Gabriel Range’s award winning Death of a President in cities across the United States on Friday, October 27. The highly anticipated film recently received the prestigious Fipresci International Critics Award at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie follows the investigation of the fictional assassination of President George W. Bush in October 2007. Combining real archival footage with a credible but fictional story, Death of a President presents a fascinating and thought-provoking political thriller.
