Bill Deasy Releases Live DVD

One of my favorite underappreciated singer-songwriters has new product out on the streets that begs to be sampled.

If you can't think of where you know the name Bill Deasy from, perhaps it might jog your memory to know that he was the lead singer for the seminal Pittsburgh band The Gathering Field, a band that released one of my favorite albums of all time, Lost In America, in 1996. The album, first released locally, was re-released shortly after by Atlantic Records. Bill is also the man behind "Good Things Are Happening", the tune that you might have heard being used as the theme song for Good Morning America. And those are just a few of his credentials!

Now, as many are doing, Deasy has released his first live DVD, and the good news is that it is a full band electric affair! Deasy has this to say on his website about the DVD:

The best thing about live music is the fact that you never know what's going to happen…you just know SOMETHING is. It's guaranteed. Walk on stage, strap on a guitar, start a song, good or bad — something happens. One weekend last July I had that “something's gonna happen” sort of feeling more than usual. Not only was my long-time friend Clarks' guitarist Rob James sitting in on the gigs, we were set to do an all-out audio-visual recording of the 4 shows. What you're holding in your hand right now is the result of all that and I'm hoping you'll agree with me that what happened — in this case — was pretty cool. So play it loud and sing along at home.

Now this I gotta have! Kudos to Bill for putting this out there and giving fans an opportunity to get a good official live document of one of his shows! And on that note, if you are reading this and have any good Gathering Field boots you would like to share with me....drop me a line, I'm interested!
