When a female employee of a law firm served Arnold with legal papers, he responded, "You cunt." The Smoking Gun has a report on Arnold buying Pumping Iron and all outtakes for $1.25 million. The papers were delivered as part of a suit by partners of the filmmaker who wanted some of the money (Arnold eventually paid them $400,000). The remarks were repoted in 1992 by the NY Observer and in court proceedings.
An unauthorized print of Pumping Iron obtained through a private collector is playing through Tuesday at the Roxie in San Francisco (the money goes to charity and it wouldn't look good if Arnold had tried to keep it from being shown).
Also, the artist who did the poster for Hercules in New York writes about it and Arnold on his website. He also has an interesting section on punk rock album covers (as well as flyers and portraits).
I still think this is the best portrait of Arnold.
And buying up Pumping Iron is just one example of what Arnold does to control his image according to a story in the Mercury News (via Spin of the Day).
