Amateur filmmakers have a new outlet thanks to AOL UnCut. The new service, almost identical to YouTube, is now in beta testing.
UnCut allows videos of up to five minutes in length to be uploaded. They are then converted to Flash 8 format for viewing by the masses on the Net. The videos are rated, commented on and wholly available for sharing. Although only in beta, the service is already hopping with users. Well over 200 videos were already up and running this evening in categories ranging from comedy and news to travel and odd and absurd.

AOL is heavily involved in online programming. Its In2TV broadband service launched earlier this year, and the company has its fingers stirring in a few other pots as well. Like YouTube, the UnCut service is just another way to get videos "out there" and is certainly giving amateurs a great way to have their work, both serious and not so much, seen and reviewed.
