Before I watched the movie, I didn't even know who Gia was. I just thought, another Angelina Jolie movie probably wouldn't be bad. But I think she looked quite awful in Gia. But the story was interesting to watch, although I didn't like this interview style. If they had left out the interview parts and just told the story in one I would have liked it more. One thing I don't understand was that she was thrashed in the street by people she'd known forever. I don't know whether it was for the money or some other reason. She got AIDS from one of them most probably, so they couldn't blame that on her, too, but maybe her disease was one reason why she was thrashed. That answer was somehow not given in the movie. What I also thought was that Angelina Jolie looked nothing like 17 years old in the beginning.
