An Even Better Prison Break Slides Into Week Two

If there was anything that the new FOX series Prison Break managed to leave out in last week's two hour premiere (which drew in an amazing 18 million viewers, making it a major success for the network thus far), they seem to have definitely covered their ground with this week's episode, which moved into the program's regular 9:00PM Eastern time period.

After the audience was let in on the escape plan to get his innocent brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) and himself out of prison in last week's premiere episode, Michael (Wentworth Miller) begins with the first stage of his grand scheme by testing Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), his cell mate, to see if he was able to keep a secret. He does this by making sure that Sucre notices him hiding a cell phone in an area of the prison that none of the guards or other prisoners would think to look for it. Whether Sucre would tell on Michael to the proper authorities within the prison or not is what Michael was the test and as it turns out, when questioned, Sucre didn't blab. As a result, Sucre was stripped of his conjugal visits and felt even more screwed over when Michael showed him that the phone was actually carefully carved out of a bar of soap and not real, and that it was all just a test to see if he could keep the secret that he and Lincoln were planning on escaping. After learning of Michael and Lincoln's escape plan, Sucre decided that it would be best to transfer to a new cell with a cell mate that won't get him into so much trouble.

Meanwhile, outside the prison's walls, Veronica (Robin Tunney) is working on getting a testimony from Leticia (guest star Adina Porter), the ex-girlfriend of the guy who was supposedly killed by Lincoln, but as we saw from last week's episode, Leticia is hesitant about talking to anyone having to do with the case, knowing that the guys with the Secret Service — who are still taking great interest in the case for reasons unknown — are after her in order to silence her and possibly even kill her to prevent her from giving Veronica the information that she needs in order to prove Lincoln's innocence. Veronica promises Leticia that she isn't working with them and that she'll keep her safe while she gives Veronica the information she needs and that she'll even help her escape the city after she's done. In a turn for the worse, though, Leticia ends up getting snatched by Kellerman (guest star Paul Adelstein), one of the guys from the Secret Service, and taken out into the middle of nowhere and murdered...leaving Veronica where she started. One step away from knowing the truth. Not only does she lose out on getting what she needs to help free Lincoln, she also winds up losing her boyfriend, Sebastian (guest star Anthony Starke) when he calls off their marriage because she was trying to help Leticia when she was supposed to be meeting him for a date.
