Sanjaya Malakar, fighting a steep uphill battle, is the Idol tour a possibility? Hicks fought and won, can Malakar believe?
Sanjaya Malakar is facing, most likely, one of his biggest performance challenges on American Idol 6. This next week's show determines who gets to join the Idol tour or simply go home. I've dubbed Sanjaya "The Little Engine That Could" after that famous children's story about the small train, who against all odds, rose to the occasion by pulling on inner strength and self-belief. He is one of the most talked about controversial contestants this year, attributed with attracting some strong alliances in Vote For The Worst and Sirius satellite's Shock Jock, Howard Stern. Stern's been drawn into this fray because he hates American Idol, plus discounting how derogatory or colorfully he may phrase it on his show, Stern has a propensity to take up a fight for the Underdog. After all, Stern knows fully well, and first-hand, what it is like to be that Underdog. Through sheer grit, wit, and an uncanny insight into what may lurk in the back of folk's minds, Stern has fought his way to success.…

Watch it Jewels. There's no need to be smart mouthed. Feel free to continue believing that Taylor was an underdog who was reviled by everyone. That's your opinion. I always felt that he had a chance of winning.
As for Sanjaya, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

No votes from this household for Sanjaya. For some reason I felt Simon was cut off abruptly before making any comments. I was waiting on a "total mess" or something like that. I don't think you can take a lack of comment as approval.

Regardless of what 'some' have imbued in this article, I always believed in Taylor to win last season; I invested a great deal of time in promoting him. I believed in him. I can say I don't understand the ire of some who don't appreciate me standing for the underdog. Besides Malakar being the most maligned contestant, I see something special in this kid. He has soul.
Certainly Hicks fans should understand. One thing too, they should also 'get' this show is not all about the singing - it's much more than that - as is Taylor.

Thank you Lou. I had lost track of him until "Team Sanjaya" contacted me on myspace to say hello.
I will have to stop by dazeoffire.com and check out news on him. He certainly impacted me last season. Once he was gone I did not watch the show weekly, I had lost interest. He did very well for himself, my favorite number, "Bessame Mucho". I had written a few more pieces on her about him, they are posted on this site. In the Rollyo search on the site's left panel toward the top type in my name and a listing of stories will pop up.
I hope he is doing well and continuing to follow his dreams - his sister, hers as well. She was such a great source of support along with his Mom.
